  • They already are. They worship the death of their God, ignoring all the stuff he said to do while he was alive. They won’t engage in any common sense gun control. They worship the military while they’re engaged in killing people, and then they demand those people continue to sacrifice their lives by underfunding and cutting benefits at the VA. They force births, but only to feed the machine with those bodies - once the kids are born, they try to stop them from receiving any benefits like food, medicine, or education - in large part to force them into the military or prisons where they can be controlled and used up.

  • Regressives the world over are not creative. They do what they do because they believe others will do it. They’re bullies because they were bullied, and they don’t want to be the victim, so they erroneously believe that means they have to strike first.

They never stop to think, “What if the world weren’t shit? What can I do to make it better?” They accept as a fact that it is shit, and they believe the only way to come out ahead is to step on someone else.

When you get several of these people/groups pointing at each other, it becomes an infinite cycle.

  • Employers are limited in paying into 401ks for highly compensated employees, and are required to have a certain percentage of their normal employees putting money in if they want to go hog for their execs. That’s why many give matches, to incentivize folks to contribute so that they can then funnel more to the C-suite.

Your coworker is right that the lack of match makes the 401k less appealing. That said, it’s still the stock market, but you may have severely limited options.

You’ll want to do what you’re required to do, but then you should look into a ROTH IRA, which will give you a lot more control over that extra 5%.

  • Anecdotal. 1.2 trillion in infrastructure spending barely touches the overall need. If that were all used to fix what is breaking, it would just do that. But then it wouldn’t cover new projects, projects in planning stages since they like to fund “shovel ready,” and it doesn’t touch the shit show that is private utilities.

It’s a start, but we’ve got decades of catching up to do. Also consider that your 1.2 trillion figure is a multi-year cost.

I don’t think you can expect rational discourse from a collective concern.

Some people will agree with you. Some people will disagree, because at the end of the day, if you’re willing to vote for someone even when they don’t do what you like, then they have no incentive to consider anything you like.

    Neither position is wrong.

Our system, which sets up two bad options, is what’s wrong.

This is ultimately a false dichotomy. We operate as if there are only two options, because no one person has the power to fix this, but instead of recognizing that the system is broken, we blame each other for not going all in on what we all admit is problematic.
