We probably don’t agree.
I probably said something you didn’t like.
You look lovely, by the way. New shirt?
I’m never sure when it comes to America, but I’d love to move there. Like us Aussies with dropbears and Americans, I was totally convinced by your post haha.
I’ve always wanted to visit a Bucky’s! We’ve got nothing like it here, so it’d be a genuine experience.
ngl the fact you can buy alcohol and ammunition at the gas station over there is making me jealous af. We legally have to have entire separate stores for those things, no exaggeration.
It’s wild how different the refueling process is between our countries. Paying at the pump was trialed here about 10 years ago, but next to nobody used it. We just rock up to the servo, pump our fuel, then walk inside to pay. I can’t see it changing anytime soon. Some rural, more crime-ridden areas require pre-pay, as well as a few locations in urban areas between 11pm and 5am, but even then, you still walk inside or up to a window on the actual building to pay.
“You’re not sad. Now consume, peasants. Consume and never stop. You don’t WANT to be sad, do you?”
No shit, I saw fucking Afterpay available for petrol at the pump the other week. I’m Australian, so I’m unsure if this ‘buy now, pay later’ shit is available for gas over in the States, but it was certainly a shock to see here.
Magnesium threonate cured my insomnia, it’s fucking wild how well it works. I’d tried everything until I discovered it, from melatonin, to antihistamine sleeping pills, all the way to downing 350ml of whiskey every night just to force sleep.
Magnesium works better than every single thing I’ve tried (but you HAVE to let yourself fall asleep when you feel it starting to work.)
Not OP, but I went with PopOS. I’d used it in a VM for a few years, so I decided to install it when I finally decided to make the switch after Microsoft decided to reveal that dystopian “record everything on your screen, coming to a PC near you soon” bullshit.
I did the same the other day, although I’m dual booting as I still need Windows for a few things (namely Photoshop.) Slowly getting used to Linux though, and it does feel… free. It’s extremely nice. Games run better (I mean fuck, the entire computer runs better.) I already use GrapheneOS on my Pixel 8, so it’s nice to have my PC finally move towards privacy too.
I’ll legitimately be moving to Linux today. This just broke the camel’s back for me.
Came here to post EveryNoise. Absolutely incredible site that just fucking WORKS. Can’t believe I went as long as I did without knowing about it.
Innertune. It hooks into YouTube music without any ads, no account creation required, offline listening, and it’s free. One of the best apps on my phone.
I’d prefer to use my vote with stupid optimism that things may get better instead of ‘punishing’ society because people are, for the most part, dumb as fuck. I believe things can improve. I’m not going to let self destructive sentiment win out even in dark times.
Early 30’s here. I was at a small gathering my best mate put together about a year ago, and his 19 year old nephew was there. He expressed his interest in anime and we got chatting. While showing me some newer anime-related TikTok stuff (I have no social media myself and haven’t really kept up with modern anime), I heard some fucking awesome ‘aggressive trap’ stuff and asked him who the artist was. It was Lil’ Darkie and I was immediately hooked. I went down a rabbit hole searching his best stuff as well as other similar artists, and now have a huge playlist of great music I’d have never discovered on my own.
imo music discovery is a pretty organic process for most people. It’s cultural and spreads via word of mouth. Chatting with younger people may be the best way to go, but understand that the youth rightfully don’t want us in their spaces lmao
This is one of the most incredible things I’ve ever seen. The complexity of life just continues to astound me.
We have a shitload of Chinese cars on the roads here in Australia, and you see them pop up for sale only a few years after being bought brand new at extreme discounts for a reason; they’re cheaply built pieces of shit that aren’t reliable and lure buyers in with fancy aesthetics and tech. I drive a 2010 Japanese import Toyota Crown, and it’ll outlast any of these Chinese made cars.
China is trying to get a foothold in the west, and they’re using cheap vehicles as part of that strategy during a cost of living crisis. It’s a smart strategy, admittedly, because the downsides won’t be apparent to the average person for a long time. The US really should be helping reduce the price tag on domestically produced cars if they want to stem the flow of Chinese EV’s hitting the roads, but the government and automakers seem to be averse to that. People without money are going to pick what they can afford, for better or for worse…
He’s been flying helicopters for like 80 years.
You couldn’t pay me enough to go back to that cesspool. Three years free of it, and have only experienced positives. As another user also stated, I’ve got social media blocked on the DNS level, as well as no longer using reddit.
Kbin and Lemmy are pretty good, but I still limit my usage.

Aussie here. What’s a tip? /s
Honestly, a lot of first party GameCube games have aged incredibly well. Mario Party, Wind Waker, Warioware, Smash, Sunshine, Luigi’s Mansion etc. all still look fantastic today, resolution aside.
