Yep, there was a time when streaming services actually became easier than piracy. That was when there was basically just Netflix and Hulu. If you had both of those, you had everything.
Honest question: why?
Type C headphones could easily be a thing (and are already). Then you just have the one port, which to me seems better.
Transparency: I’m someone who just uses Bluetooth headphones and I love them, so I have no real horse in this race. I just like not catching a cord on doorknobs anymore, lol
This is tech journalism now? Might as well have had ChatGPT write the article too…what a waste of time
I don’t believe that stat, based on my own personal experience. I’ve been a VR user for close to 10 years now and I’ve introduced many, many people to it. I’ve only had one person feel sick in any way in that entire time.
Nope, I have been a PC gamer for about 30 years and I love emulating classics from the past. It’s not as challenging as folks around here seem to think. I guess sometimes people just have a hard time accepting that there can be multiple ways of doing a thing, even if they are unaware of some of those ways. Emulating XP might seem like a big deal for someone who is new to the idea, but personally I have been emulating XP for decades, even when it was the modern OS, along with many other types of OS, so it’s a matter of rote for me at this point. I wouldn’t even consider XP to be old enough to be a challenge - try emulating some of the original Linux distros, or an OS you’ve never heard of for that matter. That’s where the challenge can come in.
I love that so many people have an opinion on this subject though. It just affirms that new ideas are out there for those who want them. Happy learning!
Thanks for sharing your opinion. Personally I find the process to be much simpler than what you described, but I guess it comes down to knowledge and experience in that area. Happy learning and good luck with all that!
I guess that depends who you ask. I emulate games all the time. Just takes a little bit of willingness to learn something new.
But…why? It’s so much simpler and often better to just emulate the original software and hardware than to port entire games.
He’s not preserving them - that’s done by simply archiving the file. He’s making them playable on modern software. That’s something different entirely, still very cool though.
Why not just sell the game? Secure the bag and the peace of mind at the same time
Although, ironically, generated garbage is virtually worthless for SEO.
It helps to separate the technology from the companies. We don’t need Google, Amazon, or any other company to make use of network connected technology. It doesn’t have to be internet-connected, either. You can have a completely automated home with no more risk of intrusion than a standard locked door already has from a well-placed boot.
One other solution to throw into the ring - delete the contact and re-enter it as a “phone only” contact. That way it’s not connected to her Google services whatsoever.
Hey, just a heads up - you can easily install a profanity filter extension on just about any browser, mobile or otherwise. Here’s an example for Chrome:

That way you don’t have to see stuff you don’t want to, but also don’t have to attempt to modify the way other people speak to suit your desires.
Not bad, been a good day actually. I have today and tomorrow off for the holiday, so it’s been a nice long weekend.
I woke up early and did my meditation, then stretched and got a good workout in. Then did the dishes and mopped kitchen floor. That left me feeling quite productive and totally justified in sparking up the bong and playing video games for the last few hours.
I have:
-Netflix (included w/ phone plan)
-Hulu + Disney + ESPN (bundle)
-Shudder
-CuriosityStream / Nebula
-Spotify
Then I have my own personal Jellyfin server for everything else.
For what it’s worth, this is exactly how Reddit was in the early days. I remember a niche sub being something that had maybe 30-50 members, now basically every subject has a subreddit with communities in the 5000+ range.
Just give it time. If there is a particular community you’re missing, use this as an opportunity to start it over here and start getting people involved.
My opinion is that if Reddit was really concerned about the preservation of their data, they would keep their API open and encourage 3rd-party interactions with their platform.
I think scrambling your data is not only justified, it’s the correct form of protest.
Well, this particular Magazine is called /m/RedditMigration so it would be kind of hard to not discuss Reddit here…
Does it? I hadn’t noticed, I haven’t been over there in quite a while.
Best thing to do is use an external monitor. You can connect the phone via whatever USB interface it has - there are cheap USB to HDMI adapters on Amazon which should do the trick.
