I use the back buttons as alternative shoulder buttons.

My right bumper button broke and I can’t find cheap replacement daughterboards, so bandaid it is. I can’t just solder in a new switch because the leads on the PCB broke. Seems to be a failure common mode for the bumpers if you ever hit the corner or drop it. The way the bumper is designed transfers the full force directly to the PCB instead of to the shell or any actual structural component.

I bowl maybe once a year. Bowling centers seem to be closing faster than they’re being bought up and shittified.

This kind of thing sucks, but it also might be the only thing keeping a bowling alley open that’s within 50 miles. I’ve moved a lot and there’s never been more than two bowling alleys that I know of within a reasonable drive.

I’m not as familiar with mass-market malware, but APT-level gear generally doesn’t try to make use of such easily observed events. The more network traffic malware appropriates, the greater the probability that it’s caught.

Simply put, Powertools puts several functions within arms reach for malware looking to stay under the radar. Without it, malware needs to bring more of its own code which increases footprint. Living off the land exploits in particular love the presence of these kinds of programs

It’s not as purpose-built, but its replacing a ton of airframes which are decidedly not as stealthy as an F22. Think of all of the F16s, F18s, and AV-8s being replaced by F35s

There’s a difference between surrender and defection.

Soldiers who surrender are afforded protections and retain ties to their countries. After hostilities resolve or if a prisoner transfer is arranged, they return to their country and generally do not face punishment. At least according to Geneva conventions on lawful war. It’s rarely this simple and clean.

Soldiers who defect have few, if any, protections and are in a weird place with nationality. They are typically considered fugitives by their home countries and may or may not be able to travel internationally as they may also be stateless.

That’s a good point. Is there any precedent for opening up localized hyperspace channels to just… redirect the energy elsewhere? You wouldn’t need to absorb anything if you can point the laser somewhere where you aren’t. Perhaps to an Imperial planet for bonus points.
