Hello Rivianfolk,

Happy Sunday! Hope you’re having an excellent end to your weekend. How many times have you driven your friends / family to Barbie or Oppenheimer since the last Rivian Responds? For me it’s four times. Anyways, let’s get into it!

Subreddit Updates

  • Our Discord has 2k members! Don’t forget to pop over there if you’re looking for an active community to chat with.
  • Friendly reminder that we have a place to discuss the Rivian ticker at r/IVN. In general, I think it’s a moderate success! If you’re dying to discuss financial stuff and speculate, that’s your place - moderated by your r/Rivian mods.

Weekly Rivian Responds

To get your questions answered, comment below within 48hrs of this post going up.

Please remember that Rivian is a publicly traded company, so you may not get the detail you want about upcoming product, feature, or software timelines. Of course always ask what’s most important, but for more detailed answers, try to ask questions about vehicle capability, choices already made (eg, design), or about the company in general.

  • Any plans for bringing the under-dash 12v port back?
    • We don’t plan on bringing the 12V outlet back to the cabin of the R1T or R1S at this time.
  • Any updates on the redesigned (and hopefully backward-compatible to already-delivered R1s) wireless charging pad?
    • We don’t have any updates on the wireless charging pad at this time but will update the subreddit when we know more!
    • Mod Note: This is the third time in the past two months that this question was asked. We’re happy to keep passing top questions along to Rivian, but just wanted to point it out.
  • When will the powered tonneau cover be reintroduced to configurator?
    • While we don’t have a timeline to share on when powered tonneau cover will be configurable, we can confirm that updated powered tonneau components will be shipping to Service Centers mid-summer to address any R1T owners experiencing issues. Our first priority is vehicles already on the road.
  • Some users have noticed data transfers from the vehicle even while it’s parked at home. What data is collected and uploaded when the vehicle is stationary at home?
    • Vehicle logs are collected while the vehicle is in operation and stored until they can be uploaded. This vehicle data is collected for multiple purposes depending on the driver’s preferences and privacy settings and is used to support continued vehicle performance, improve safety features and for predictive maintenance and diagnostics. These vehicle logs are typically uploaded once the vehicle is parked and connected to Wi-Fi. Also, when the vehicle is plugged into a charger, the vehicle may collect data related to the charging session. That data is also uploaded if the vehicle is connected to Wi-Fi while charging. To learn more, you can visit the Vehicles and Charging sections of Rivian’s Data Privacy Notice.
  • What additional features can we expect to see for the Rivian Wall Charger?
    • We’ll be sure to announce any new features on the Rivian Wall Charger as they roll out.
